7 — Ruth J. Simmons Quadrangle - Theatre Arts
Known for decades as Lincoln Field, this part of campus was renamed, "Simmons Quadrangle" in 2012 to honor outgoing president, Ruth J. Simmons. Surrounding the Simmons Quadrangle are buildings that house each of the four main academic disciplines. Look for Metcalf Research Labs in the northeast corner. Next door, Brown's Theater Arts students practice and perform at Lyman Hall and the Leeds Theater. To the south, Maxcy Hall is home to one of the oldest Sociology Departments in the country, and Lincoln Field Building contains the Planetary Reseach Facility. Sophomore and upperclass students living in Caswell, Hegeman, and Littlefield halls use the quad for rest and recreation, so don’t be surprised to see some Frisbees flying!
